Vehicle tracking systems has been pervasively applied to monitor the traffic and road safety where existing vehicle tracking systems use video image processing technique. In visual monitoring a security analyst normally interested to look at several activity such as finding car speeding through parking lot, finding car that has been parked in loading zones and etc. Thus, vehicle speed detections algorithm has been developed as one of the function of smart surveillance system that can determine speed of the cars through parking lot which are more than 40kph. The proposed algorithm has been developed using frame differencing technique for moving abject detection and adapted point-based tracking technique for object tracking. The speed of the vehicle is obtained by applying kinematic equation where the length in poxels and the distance in world coordinate is set up to be lineac as shown in figure T.
