Towards meeting up with ICTs challenges among Islamic Sharia Court (Law) libraries in Nigeria: a proposal for networking
Abstract
The emergence of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and it subsequent integration in to the field of Library and information services force a serious challenge to libraries and other information provision organizations, Sharia Court Law libraries inclusive. Coupled to say that no organization can prosper today and properly delivered effectively and efficiently without embracing these technologies (ICTs). It is based on this therefore, this paper attempt to propose a networking arrangement among Law libraries in Nigeria, Sharia court Law libraries as our focus, with a clear view to assist them in the provision of adequate and needed services desired by their clienteles. The paper further discusses the rationale for networking among libraries in questions particularly in the present economic predicament in the country; such as cost of materials are higher, as well as the ever decreasing trend in budgetary allocation to libraries among others. Strategies and structure for effective networking scheme were also stressed by the paper. It concludes by outlines some of the anticipated problems prospect and proposes solutions for betterment.
