This paper presents the application of computeraided reverse engineering method in modelling Polyethylene (PE) insert, one part of knee implant. The work started by digitizing the insert using 3D laser scanner and the output file is imported into CATIA V5R17 to reconstruct surface and generate 3D modelling. The completed 3D CAD model is then validated with actual insert using Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). The dimensional comparisons show good results and hence, the job proceeds to CAM. MasterCAM X2 is used to generate and verify the tool path for machining the insert.en_US
