dc.description.abstract | Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) composite reinforced with cymbopogon nardus,
(citronella filler, CF) was prepared via melt blending method using heated two roll mill at
temperature 160°C, screw rotational speed at 40rpm for 12 min. TPE matrix is a blend of
low density polyethylene (LDPE) and ethylenepropylene-diene monomer (EPDM) at a
ratio of 70:30. The optimum fiber loading were investigated from by different phr which
are 15, 30, 45 and 60 phr. The effect of coupling agent maleic anhydride (MA) on the
TPE composite has been investigated. The result shown that, with increasing the
citronella filler loading gradually increased the tensile strength and flexural strength for both compatibilized and uncompatibilized LDPE/EPDM-CF composite but lower on
elongation at break.. Fourier transform–infrared spectroscope studies revealed that the
addition of compatibilizing agent enhanced dispersion of filler in polymer matrix as an
evidence of covalent bonding between citronella filler and compatibilizing agent. | en_US |
