Performance and analysis of university's LAN
Abstract
Currently, using Internet in university is very important in order for everyone to share
information, get the resources and interact communication. But with the lack of information about Local Area Network information in university happened, network traffic in the university is affected and caused congestion happen. Having known these issue, this research aims to analyze the performance of the University’s LAN to reduce the congestion of network performance. Also, it provides an effective network in LAN among users in university. A
Local Area Network topology is designed and developed in simulation (NS-2) with different
data rate of bandwidth and varies packet sizes. The simulation results show that with higher data rate of bandwidth and larger packet size, this can improve the performance more on the network traffic. Besides that, by choosing the correct data rate bandwidth and packet size,
this can reduce the packet loss and packet delay. Meanwhile, throughput is better in this
research with the larger of packet size and high rate bandwidth. As a result, the performance
of University’s LAN is improved with modification of some matrix over the network.
