Characterization of on-body antenna using specific absorption rate measurement
Abstract
UWB array antenna with 4 radiating elements is designed in this thesis. The antenna
deployed quarter wavelength transformer transmission line concept and complement with partial ground plane. Taconic associated with 2.2 dielectric constant is utilized as the antenna substrate. The antenna operated from 2.6 GHz until 13.1 GHz, dimensions of 110 mm × 63 mm and maximum gain of 13.78 dB. The antenna placed 10 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm from human brain phantom and human breast phantom. Amount of energy absorbed by the human brain and human breast indicated the presence of tumor. The detection method applied by analyzing difference SAR value in the absence and presence of tumor in human head phantom and human breast phantom. Human head phantom and human breast phantom with tumor absorbed more energy and recorded higher SAR value compared with human head phantom and human breast phantom without tumor.
