OCDMA over WDM tranmission using high throughput detection technique
Abstract
The interest in producing fiber optic networks that can sustain the rise of bandwidth
demands is getting popular nowadays. Applications such as web browsing, video conference and many more are demanding more speed as we speak every day. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) is one of the techniques that can access wide bandwidth in fiber optic. The implementation of both OCDMA over WDM system is develop to meet the demand of the users. Somehow, by developing OCDMA over WDM, Multi Access Interference (MAI) might occur. MAI is one of the principal causes for performance degradation in optical CDMA especially in big numbers of users. MAI is the interference cause from other users transmitting at the same time. A detection technique is develop in order to increase the
number of OCDMA’s users but at the same reducing MAI. A study is done to determine
which detection technique will produce the highest throughput for OCDMA over WDM
technologies. The system together with the better detection technique will be applied to a
Gigabit Capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) to see the system signal performance.
