dc.description.abstract | The study on the biosorption of Basic Red 46 by areca fiber has been made to
overcome the wastewater problem contaminated with dye. In this study, the areca fiber was used as biosorbent without any modification and treatment to identify its sorption efficiency. Three important parameters which are biosorbent dosage, initial dye concentration and pH have been studied to determine the highest percentage removal. The effects of each parameter were identified within 2 hours. The characterization of surface morphology of areca fiber was observed using SEM. Response Surface Methodology has been used to optimize the biosorption process and to determine the relationship of the studied parameters.
Using RSM, quadratic polynomial equation was obtained for predicting the percentage of
BR 46 removal. The highest BR46 dye removal is at pH 10, 136 mg/L initial dye
concentration with biosorbent dosage 4.85 g/L which is 95%. The model is significant. | en_US |
