    Abstract
In this project husk of rice was used to study about the optimization condition of pretreatment process in order to enhance high amount of cellulose. This project also was intended to study the effectiveness of the two steps pretreatment to achieve high cellulose content after pretreatment process. The first step pretreatment is physical pretreatment by using grinder and the second pretreatment is chemical pretreatment by using dilute sulphuric acid. The optimization condition for acid pretreatment was study by using the Central Composite Design under Response Surface Methodology. Concentration of Sulphuric Acid, Solid liquid ratio and pretreatment time were paremeter used in order to determine the optimum condition. Concentration sulphuric acid was between ranges 0 % to 10 %. Solid liquid ratio ranges between 1 %v/w to 10 % v/w. Pretreatment time range between 1 hours to 5 hours. The optimum condition of pretreatment process for rice husk was achieved at concentration of acid 3.10 %, solid liquid ratio at 3.85 %w/v and time of treatment was 4.10 hour. The yield of cellulose content was 71 % detected at optimum condition. Pretreatment process by grinding and dilute sulphuric acid was effective to enhance the cellulose content in rice husk.
