Conventional energy sources based on oil, coal and natural gas have proven to be highly effective drivers of economic progress, but at the same time damaging to the environment and to human health. Development of clean energy alternative to fossil fuels technology has become one of the most important task undertaken by modern science. So far, crystalline silicon photovoltaic solar cells dominate the market, leading to shortages of highly pure silicon throughout the world. The dye-sensitized mesoscopic TiO2 solar cells have advantages over silicon solar numerous cells, such materials as low cost, ease of production, and efficiencies outperforming amorphous silicon solar cells. The advantages of using DSSC are low cost material, can produce using layered coatings on glass, no elaborate apparatues and less susceptible to losing energy to heat. This research focuses on the use of organic dye sensitizer from dragon fruit and chlorophyll dye form spinach to replace chemical oriented dyes. Result from experiment shows that by using dye from dragon fruit and chlorophyll DSSC shows efficiency of 9.76% and 8.79% respectively. This proves that these dye can be use to replace chemical oriented dyes.
