This project aim to study the characteristic of novel solid phase material which developed using Polymer Inclusion Membrane (PIM) preparation technique and the effect of ariables such as temperature, weight of solid phase material and pH towards the separation mechanism of antimony. PIMs consist of cellulose triacetate (CTA) as a polymer matrix, 2-nitrophenyl n-octyl ether (NPOE) as a plasticizer, and bis(2,4,4- trimethylpentyl) monothiophosphinic acid (Cyanex 302) as a carrier were developed and the extraction separation of antimony in 1.0 M nitric acid medium was carried out experimentally by using the prepared PIMs that was slices into small pieces. The concentration of the working solution and the solution after extraction was determined by using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The extraction system is studied as a function of several variables, such as the pH of the working solution, the operating temperature, and membrane weight. The results shows that the extraction rate of Sb(III)increases with increasing of operating temperature and membrane weight but decrease with the increasing of pH of working solution.en_US
