This project presents a Double Mutation-Artificial Immune System based on optimization approach for solving economic dispatch problem in power system. Economic dispatch determines the electrical power to be generated by the committed generating units in a power system so that the generation cost is minimized, while satisfying the load demand simultaneously. The developed Double Mutation-Artificial Immune System optimization technique uses the total generation cost as the objective function and represented as the affinity measure. The test system that is used for this project is a 26 bus system and the program is developed using MATLAB software. The result also confirms that Double Mutation-Artificial Immune System technique can be a useful tool for solving economic dispatch problem, which involves a large number of generating units and at the same time comply with the constraints involved.en_US
