dc.description.abstract | Polysaccharides seemed to be the most potent mushroom derived substance with
antitumor properties. Schizophyllan glucan(SPG) was a extracellular polysaccharides
that was from basidiomycete Schizophyllum commune. Schizopyllan was a non-ionic
and water soluble compound consisted of a linear chain of 1 6 branched β-(1-3)-
glucan loosely attached to the outer layer of cell wall. The rice straw seemed to have the
potential to be a substrate media for mushroom cultivation because it consisted a huge
lignocellulosic source .Furthermore the large quantity of abundant rice straw was
produced during paddy harvesting seasons. Solid state fermentation (SSF) what
accommodated the growth of microorganism on moist solid material in the absence of
free-flowing water . The objective of this study was to produce the schizophyllan by
S.commune fungus from pretreated paddy straw by using solid-sate fermentation
process. The Design Expert software (DOE) with application of Central Composite
Design (CCD) was used optimization of schizophyllan production . The paddy straw
was prepared by grinding into three difference size and other parameters involved were
glucose concentration, ammonium nitrate, and amount of Tween 80 was added
according to the DOE. The optimization conditions of production of schizophyllan were
identified as 10 % glucose, 5 % ammonium nitrate and 0.2 ml Tween 80. | en_US |
