The studies of safety and stability systems of small
electric vehicles can be divided broadly into two areas of interest,
namely skid control by motor sensors and safety improvement by
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). However, most of the small
electric vehicles only provide seat belts and mechanical brake
system as safety equipment. For a small electric vehicle, there is
no space to install a brake unit of ABS system in driving tire
because an in-wheel motor system was used as a driving unit. In
this report, we introduce the simulation model of hybrid brake
system with an ABS as a braking system for a small electric
vehicle. The simulation of an ABS which combines with the
hybrid brake system can control the value of slip ratio under
stable region. In this simulation, the effect of a regenerative
brake on a turning motion to the vehicle suspension was
investigated. From this simulation, when a regenerative brake
was operation, the combination of hybrid brake system with an
ABS can control the movement of the roll center to the stable
region and finally it can improve the safety and stability systems
of the small electric vehicle.
