dc.description.abstract | Air Pollution is an important problem in East Asia and the Pacific Region, especially in the big cities and industrial zones. Increased economic development in the Asian region has often led to rapid and unplanned urbanization. Urban air pollution poses significant threats to human health and to the environment. The issue of urban air quality recently received more attention as the results of increasing fraction of the world's population are now living in urban centers and are demanding a cleaner environment. The environmental impacts are particularly severe in Asian region where some countries have a combination of rapid growth of industrial activity, large populations, and increased on transportation. In this paper, the urban air quality management in two countries; Malaysia and Thailand were discussed. The sources of air pollution, the status and management of air quality in these two counties are compared. | en_US |
