Car cabin interior vibration and acoustical comfort are factors which are normally considered by customers when purchasing a vehicle. Basically, a vehicle with much vibration will at the same time have an uncomfortable acoustical environment which will influence the flexibility of driving. The noise generated by the car system can cause hearing impairment, hypertension, annoyance, and can also decrease driving focus, which can cause accidents. Since the vibration is the main contributor resulting in noise, a study has been carried out to find the optimal vibration dose value (VDV) in order to achieve better vehicle acoustical comfort index (VACI) values for the passenger car cabin. By referring to the correlation between the VACI and VDV values depending on engine speed and velocities, a mathematical model was built to find the optimal value of vibration dose value. This was used to get better vehicle acoustical comfort index through satisfying all of the equations and constraints, identified based on the characteristics of the noise and vibration. By using the optimization model, automotive researchers will be able to make a benchmark for vibration dose value in order to get better vehicle acoustical comfort index values in passenger car cabins.en_US
