Development attendance system with fingerprint reader
Nurul Afifah, Abdul Kadir
Managing student attendance during lecture periods has become a difficult challenge and
waste of time. For the stated reason, an efficient attendance system using fingerprint
reader is designed. This system takes attendance electronically with the help of a
fingerprint device and the records of the attendance are stored in a database of reader.
Therefore, this UNISA1 “UNIMAP STUDENT ATTENDANCE Version 1 is an open
source of PIC microcontroller board using PIC16F876A. This PIC microcontroller based
project designed to develop a fingerprint attendance system using SNFPR-UART
fingerprint reader module. UNISA1 is able to store numbers of fingerprints and perform
matching to mark users’ attendance on selected day. Furthermore, exporting attendance
list to text file is also supported by UNISA1with the help of Graphical User Interface
(GUI) provided. This project will provides hands-on experience in interfacing fingerprint
reader with PIC microcontroller through UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver /
Transmitter). On the other hand, UNISA1 also include an extra programmed UART port
to interface with PC computer .In order for UNISA1 to export attendance list to personal
computer, I need to develop a Fingerprint Reader GUI using Microsoft Visual Studio
2010. Fingerprint Reader GUI not only retrieves the attendance list yet it can directly
interface with SNFPR-UART fingerprint reader to perform some commonly used
operations. Fingerprint Reader GUI interface with UNISA1 board and also SN-FPRUART
fingerprint reader through COM port. Attendance view is display in LCD screen
after student identification. But an error occur when export attendance list from reader to
GUI/Hyper terminal window because the setup of connection of transceiver and receiver
of MAX232 through personal computer and UNISA1 is not correct. Also the Microsoft
Visual Studio is not correctly program for GUI.

Automated classroom reservation using SMS
Nurul Nadiah, Mohamed Hatta
Nowadays, automated reservation has been widely used instead of manual reservation.
This include hotel, ticket, room and many more. Reserving a classroom in UniMAP over
the years has been the greatest challenge of the most students. The current system in use
is manual system that is filling in the form. Thus, checking the availability and
redundancy of data consume a lot of time. This project therefore use to develop an
automated classroom reservation using SMS that will provide a more systematic and
suitable for use with today's technology, namely SMS. A database is created using
PhpMyAdmin to store reservation information and user interface is created using Eclipse
Committers Mars.

Flood warning system in Malaysia
Illuni Syairah, Zulkefli
Flood is such a natural disaster that cannot be predicted which represents a
significant hazard to human safety and a threat to property. The reason comes with no
proper warning to them. In this project, the system is direct to the risky area which
focusing on measuring the water level of the river. A sensor is going to place and seal-in
at the wood placed in the river, so then whenever the water level of the river rise up, the
sensor will detect and the information by the sensor is send directly to PIC. The PIC that
is generated by 12V battery will interpret the data of water level all the time being (realtime
data) as it is operated 24 hours. The output medium of this system in order to
displays the reading is by using LCD 16X2, LED and the buzzer for sound. This standalone
concept of flood warning system is created to give the information and early
warning at the risky area and control room unit of flood disaster which is focusing on
displaying the water level of the nearly river. The LCD, LED and buzzer is used to give
the warning directly if the situations comes worst with as minimum as can the risk of
the flood. The PIC type that will be used for this project is PIC16F877A.

Development of intelligent energy saving system for individual house
Nur Nisha, Mohd Jani
This project proposes automatic lighting and fan speed system in individual house. The aim of this project is to design an intelligent technique of lighting and fan speed system in house by autonomous operation. This system used PIR sensor to detect the motion and LM35 temperature sensor to detect the temperature at surrounding area. The project will used microcontroller to build the program to the PIC16F877A. In this project, there are two type of automatic lighting are indoor and outdoor. Automatic indoor lighting will used PIR sensor to detect the motion and then will turn on the light automatically. In automatic outdoor lighting system, light dependent resistor has been
used to turn light on and off depends on intensity or amount of light that falls on LDR.
Automatic Fan speed control will operate based on temperature at surrounding area. If
temperature is high, the speed of fan will move faster and when temperature is low the
speed of fan will get slower.
