Thermo-gravimetric and differential thermo-gravimetric analyses were performance to study the effect of temperature on the mineralogical compositions of rice husk ash subjected to different grinding time. Eight rice husk ashes with different grinding time, i.e. coarse original rice husk ash (RHA0), RHA1, RHA2, RHA3, RHA4, RHA5, RHA6, and RHA7 were used for the study. The TGA/ DTA analysis and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) was used through this investigation. On the other hand, the pozzolanic activity index of the RHA was assessed in accordance with ASTM C 311-11a. From the experiment, it was found that the greater the weight loss, the less the crystallinity of the RHA. In addition, there are no significant differences in chemical compositions of the rice husk ashes with different grinding time. Furthermore, when the grinding time increased from 1 hour and 30 minutes to 5 hours, there was a significant drop in the pozzolanic index.

In this study, the adsorption of Reactive Orange 16 (R016) onto cross-linked chitosan/oil palm ash composite beads (CC/OPA) was studied in batch mode operation with respect to temperature and initial dye concentration. The adsorption of R016 onto cross-linked chitosan/oil palm ash composite beads increased with increasing temperature (30 - 50 °C) and initial dye concentration (50 - 500 mg/L). The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms models were used to described the isotherm data; of which the Freundlich model described the isotherm data with high correlation coefficients. The monolayer coverage capacities of cross-linked chitosan/oil palm ash composite beads of R016 dye was obtained 303.1, 434.8 and 588.2 mg/g at temperature 30, 40 and 50°C, respectively. It was observed that the reactive orange 16 dye adsorption capacity of cross-linked chitosan/oil palm ash composite beads increased in the order 30 > 40 > 50°C. The pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order were applied to the experimental data and its was found that results of corelation coefficients, the adsortion kinetics obeys a pseudo-first-order.
