This paper presents the design and development of sensing system for mines detector robot. The objective of this project is to identify the optimum metal detection system and design and develop the sensing system of mines detection circuit for the landmine mobile robot. This sensing circuit of landmines detection system consists of pulse generation circuit, detector circuit, amplifier circuit, comparator circuit, microcontroller PIC18F4580 and the display result circuit through LCD screen. Size, type and shape of ferrous and non-ferrous object (landmines) will impinge on the output voltage signal from the search coil. The metal (iron) that was targeted in this project will be chosen based on an artificial detonator. Experimental results showed that this circuit able to sense ferrous and non-ferrous object (landmines) with satisfy sensitivity and consistent result.

Intelligent control has contributed great benefits to industry in terms of increasing efficiency and productivity of industrial processes. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) -based controller is one of the control device used in industrial automation drive applications, the important aspect is to control speed of an induction motor in the presence of variable load. The plant model in this project is developed using MATLAB/Simulink and the aim is to simulate and analyze the appropriate control technique suitable for implementation onto the PLC to perform real-time implementation of the VSD (variable speed drive) control. This paper presents the work conducted in analyzing, evaluating and improving a PLCbased intelligent controller for a Pulse Width Modulation Driven Variable Speed Drive (PWM Driven VSD) of an induction motor by using state space control method, focusing at the wide range of speed response. The results show that it is possible to archive a consistent control from low till high speed range.

Ethernet is now the dominant networking in the home and office environment. Advanced of the network technology and convergence of communications, control and computer enabled the Networked Control System (NCS). Industrial Ethernet (IE) is the applications of IEEE 802.3 standards with requirements of factory equipment and network protocols. The connection based on star topology for the real-time communication between a computer and PLC. Analysis of performance based on data transfer rate, packets speed, packets volume, sum volume (KByte), Central Processing Unit (CPU) usage, percent available Read Access Memory (RAM), available Read Access Memory (RAM) and Packet InterNet Groper (PING) are conducted. It is shown that packets speed and packets volume for two types of the computer is approximately same between computer 1 and computer 2.
