Abstract: These paper presents the investigation into the use of Genetic Algorithm (GA) for the design improvement of Turbocharger. Detailed description of the complete design process is described and numerous GA generation of the design optimization are presented with detailed examination of the several factors affecting the turbocharging system. In addition, variations of important geometrical design parameters are discussed in accordance to the GA results. The capabilities of the three-dimensional turbocharger design through GA are demonstrated by the fact that two different turbocharger systems were designed based on strict design constraint affecting their basic dimensions. As the results, the mathematical model has a very good agreement with the experimental data and it could be used for improving the design of turbine-compressor assembly through the bottom geometry changes of the compressor.
