Abstract: This study is to investigate an alternative approach for full automated hydraulic transmission system for automotive application. A transmission system, which consists of hydraulic components, is analyzed to replace the common mechanical type by observing its potential on whether the transmission system which is fully driven by the hydraulic components can cater the same output as the currently existing mechanical transmission system. This is an alternative approach to reduce the fuel consumption in connection with the need of driving capacity required to run the hydraulic pump. Expecting reduction in driving capacity, a preliminary investigation was conducted to obtain the information regarding full hydraulic transmission system before further task is carried out. Critical selection and calculation were also conducted to analyze and determine the appropriate and required variables to run the vehicle safely.
