dc.description.abstractThis project report is to analyze the electrical parameter of various types of magnetic ballast and makes an improvement of the power factor of magnetic ballast. This project is conducted to improve power consumption of magnetic ballast fluorescent lamp power factor. A few model of magnetic ballast fluorescent lamp was selected as the sample of study. The detail about magnetic ballast will be analyze in electrical parameter such as starting voltage, current, power consumption, power factor and harmonic distortion. From observation, magnetic ballast have low power factor around 0.5 and as we known the good power factor rating for electrical appliance is between 0.8-0.99[1,4,5]. The design of the power factor correction for magnetic ballast has been divided into its subsections from the theory, analysis and designs of power factor improvement. All of this will be discussed by detailed in this report.en_US
