Abstract: | Oil spills causes severe environment pollution by impacting the natural habitat of animal. Crude oil composed of different substances which made up of different hydrocarbon chain length ranging from aliphatic alkane, aromatic alkane to naphthenes. The carbon chain in crude oil is degraded by soil microbes in the natural environment to provide them with energy used in metabolism, denitrification and nitrate reduction. In this study, the effect of different carbon chain length to the growth of soil microbes is determined. Biodegradation of soil microbes in diesel and ron95 petrol mix culture is identifies by using Gas chromatography. |
