This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of using cassava peel (CP) as a solid waste for the adsorption of malachite green (MG), a cationic dye. Batch adsorption studies were conducted to evaluate the effects of contact time in (20- 180 min), initial concentration (20-100 mg/L) and adsorbent dosage at (0.1-0.5 g) on the removal of dye at temperature 28°C. Equilibrium sorption isotherms and kinetics were investigated in this study. The experimental data were analyzed by the two different types of linearized Langmuir and the Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The data fitted well with the Langmuir model with a maximum adsorption capacity of 39.37 mg/g. Pseudo-first and pseudo-second-order kinetics models were also tested with the experimental data. Thus, pseudo-second order kinetic was the best for the adsorption of MG by CP with coefficients of correlation R2 = 1.000 for the contact time studied. The results demonstrated that the cassava peel is very effective for the adsorption of malachite green dye from aqueous solutions.en_US
