dc.description.abstract | An alternative material that can replace the natural resource or raw material should be developed immediately to cater these problems. As an alternative, bottom ash used as raw material in production of lightweight aggregate to reduce the amount of unwanted waste in the landfills and as replacement of coarse aggregate. The purpose of this research is to utilize the non-treated municipal solid waste incinerator bottom ash as raw material in production of lightweight aggregate. This research explain in details the materials, equipment and experimental procedures that will be carried out in this research work. In general, this research cover several major part which were to study of characterization of non-treated non treated bottom ash from MSWI. It also investigate the optimum mix percentage of bottom ash in lightweight aggregate production. Besides that, relationship between shape and size of bottom ash proportions toward strength of lightweight aggregate was studied. Lastly, the properties of concrete made from lightweight aggregate was also studied. The result show that characteristics of bottom ash contain main compound that have some similarities with cement so it categories in pozzolonic agent that can interact with chemical reaction with cement to improve it strength. The result for the optimum mix percentage of bottom ash lightweight aggregate selected among 40 samples is lightweight aggregate with 20 % proportion of bottom ash with circular shape in room water condition with water absorption test 20%, aggregate impact value (AIV) 13.94% and loose bulk density 739.53 kg/m3. It is proved that using 20% of lightweight aggregate made from admixture of bottom ash and cement can help to improve the strength of concrete. | en_US |
