dc.description.abstract | Screening for antimicrobial activity of phyto extract was studied to identify the antimicrobial effect of phyto extract on sludge bacteria. Sludge bacteria were isolated from activated sludge of Shorubber Malaysia Sdn Bhd on nutrient agar with temperature 37oC. Bacteria growth showed the log phase in the first day after 24 hours and exponential phase in second day after 48 hours. Then, the bacteria growth at stationary phase in third day was after 72 hours and death phase in last day after 96 hours. Next, a zone of inhibition on sludge bacteria was identified through disk diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentration was identified through agar plate method. The antimicrobial, Clitoria Ternatea (Blue pea) extract then been tested on sludge bacteria. After laboratory test, the mean zone of inhibition has resulted 11.67 mm for first plate, 11.33 mm for second plate and 11 mm for third plate. For the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) test, the population of bacteria shows positive results at concentration 1μg/mL, 2μg/mL, 4μg/mL and 8μg/mL as there were bacteria growth and in concentration 16μg/mL, 32μg/mL and 64μg/mL there were shown negative results as no bacteria growth, so it has resulted in 16μg/mL. | en_US |
