Abstract: | In this present work, the protein-carbohydrate production using different herbal leaves such as butterfly wings, moringa and cat’s whickers were evaluated. The attempt to emphasize on the protein and polysaccharide of these herbal leaves is never been done before. Thus, this present study focus on the production of protein of these herbal leaves. Then, the effects of different initial sucrose concentration on the production of polysaccharide as well as on production of bacterial cellulose were evaluated. The optimum protein content was obtained in butterfly wings infused drinks increases and reaches the maximum value at 0.1810 g/L at the 10th day. At sucrose concentration 50 g/L, glucose production is optimum in cat’s whiskers leaves, while at 80 g/L the glucose content reach optimum value in cat’s whiskers and finally at 100 g/L sucrose concentration, butterfly wings leaves achieve the best glucose production. Lastly, the bacterial cellulose production in moringa leaves gives the highest yield with 55% at 100 g/L sucrose concentration as the fermentation time increases. |
