Abstract: Cellulase is a well-known enzyme because of its high demand in various industries. Cellulose is very abundant on Earth, thus, creating a high demand for breaking down cellulose using cellulase enzyme. Anoxybacillus sp. strain UniMAP KB-01 is a new strain isolated from tropical mangrove soil. Many researchers proved that Anoxybacillus spp. possess the ability to produce cellulase, however, the condition that affects the production of cellulases for this new strain is yet to be discovered. This research was to examine the parameters that affect the production of cellulase by Anoxybacillus sp. strain UniMAP KB-01. The process parameters that considered in the experimental design were temperature, pH, agitation speed, incubation time, concentration of carbon source, concentration of nitrogen source and concentration of various mineral sources. The Plackett-Burman design showed that the three most significant factors that influence the cellulase production by Anoxybacillus sp. strain UniMAP KB-01 were temperature, pH, and concentration of calcium chloride (CaCl2).
