dc.description.abstractVariety additive nature of waste has been used in research for the production of sand brick modified the brick making process in terms of cost, method of manufacture, the strength of brick, and a variety of important fundamentals needed again. In this study, dolomite of the quarry waste was chosen as one of the additives to study the characteristics of modified sand brick. Dolomite is a sedimentary rock resulting from the deposition of river or sea takes millions of years. The objectives of this research are determining the relationship between density, water absorption, and compressive strength test, as well as to study the effectiveness of dolomite percentage in sand brick mixture, and investigating the differences between normal sand and modified sand brick using dolomite. Sand brick with 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% dolomite as sand replacement has been prepared and tested by the physical and engineering properties. Colour, texture, and density of the bricks were determined to obtain the physical properties. The water absorption and compressive strength were investigated for obtaining the engineering properties. The optimum percentage mix of the modified sand brick using dolomite is D50 based on the density, water absorption, and compressive strength test of the sand brick. The result of the density of the D50 sand brick using dolomite was 1701 kg/m3, the water absorption of the sand brick were 12%, and 14% at 7 days and 28 days respectively. Meanwhile, the compressive strength of the D50 sand brick was 7.22 MPa at 7 days and 11.86 MPa at 28 days.en_US
