Abstract: The purpose of this research is to design a Control IC for single phase inverter using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Inverter is used to convert DC voltage to AC source and output voltage of an inverter can either be in a pure sine wave or a modified sine wave. Modified sine wave has several disadvantages i.e, unsuitable for application in frequency sensitive equipment and high harmonic distortion; thus shorten the lifespan of electronic equipments. A single chip FPGA is utilized as main controller unit that control's the whole operations of full bridge circuit and generates a control signal for Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation technique(SPWM). The output voltage from the inverter is a pure sine wave low harmonics distortion (<396) and the compilation result consists of 785 logic cells.
