Abstract: Municipal solid waste is one part of life cycle phases and related with waste management system. Waste management in Perlis is at alarming level and disappointed. The methodology considers from residents perception by using statistical analysis and Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) study of two waste collection systems in Perlis. Thus, the questionnaire is a main part to know the residents perception and based on Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) has been developed in this study with aim of quantifying the air emission from truck exhaust, waste odour from truck, distance from house to house until landfil , time consumption and diesel consumption. As a case study, two different waste collection systems has been evaluated with this methodology in the Kangar area, there are Hauled Container System (HCS) and Stationary Container System (SCS). Lots of residential areas in Kangar area were selected. There are Taman Dato’ Ja’afar, Taman Bukit Kayangan, Taman Ira, Taman Ira Jaya, Taman Perlis, Taman Pertama and Taman Kemajuan. The results indicate that stationary container System (SCS) is preferred than Hauled Container System (HCS). The feeling of resident shows when using container garbage, the odour and rotten worm are more appear and disturb their harmonization at that area.
