Abstract: This study conducted to get the gas liquid mass transfer model for reaction dyes degradation. Three types of dyes which are Reactive Red 120, Acid Orange 07 and Remazol Brilliant Blue were analyzed using ozonation process. The main objective of this study is to determine the key performance of ozone mass transfer and reaction rate model. Besides that, the effect of ozonation process on COD removal of dye destruction also been examined. The operating parameters are dye concentration (200 ml), KI solution (2 L), and time of ozone passing (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 and 20 minute). Microsoft Excel was used to analyse data and identify ozone consumption percentage during ozonation process. In 20 minutes of experiment, ozone consumption that have been used to degrade the Reactive Red 120 is 32.1 mg/ L, while for Acid Orange 07 and Remazol Brilliant Blue is 26.7 mg/ L and for mixed dyes is 7.2 mg/ L. Meanwhile, the results of COD removal during the ozonation process for Acid Orange 07 is 74 mg/ L, mixed dyes is 52 mg/ L, Reactive Red 120 is 50 mg/ L and Remazol Brilliant Blue is 48 mg/ L. The results show that Reactive Red 120 dye needs more ozone than others to degrade while COD can be easily removed in Acid Orange 07 dye. As a conclusion, ozonation process is one of suitable method to degrade dyes that widely used in textiles industry in terms to solve the water pollution problem.
