dc.description.abstract | Aloe vera is a herbal medicinal plant with various of biological properties, which includes antimicrobial, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, and immunomodulatory properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate antifungal efficacy of different forms of Aloe vera extracts against Colletotrichum Orbiculare that responsible for the anthracnose disease in cucurbit plants, which was infected cucumber plants used in this study. Basillus Subtilis was also used in this study to evaluate the antimicrobial properties in Aloe vera and increase the credibility of the results obtained in the experiment. The pure culture of C. orbiculare was isolated from the dark lesions of cucumber fruit and the efficacy among the three type of extracts were compared. Based on the results, the gel extract showed the best efficacy in growth inhibition of the fungus and bacteria, followed by mixed extract and leaf extract. Furthermore, The Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) among gel extract, leaf extract and mixed extract were obtained. The MIC for gel extract against the fungus and bacteria were 0.4 μl/μl and 0.1 μl/μl while the leaf extract recorded 0.5 μl/μl and 0.2 μl/μl respectively. The mixed extract obtained 0.4 μl/μl and 0.1 μl/μl in both experiments. Therefore, every parts of Aloe vera plant can be used as an effective fungicide or antibacterial agent in a suitable concentration | en_US |
