Abstract: | Over the years, ISO6983 another name of G&M code has been used extensively by CNC machines to produce a product. However, for today’s fast evolving high performance manufacturing, this G-code applications are limits by its usability and difficult to reconfigure. New international standard has been developed and standardized called ISO14649 – STEP-NC. This standard comes as a linear programming language. This paper presents a comparative study between STEP-NC physical file and G&M code for a simple milling process consists of one pocket and hole. G&M code for this milling component was generated by using MasterCam software and STEP-NC physical file was adapted from ISO14649-11: Process Data for Milling. The codes were analyzed thoroughly, which include how each standard defined a pocket process and a drilling process. |
