Abstract: | The present research work deals with the prediction of interlaminar stresses of laminated FRP composite plate subjected to uniform axial pressure using finite element analysis. The commercial finite element analysis software ANSYS has been successfully executed and the developed finite element model is validated. The out of plane normal and shear stresses at the interfaces of the layers of the laminate are evaluated for different stacking sequences. The effect of the ratio of longitudinal to transverse Young’s moduli (E1/E2) and fiber angle on the interlaminar stresses is discussed. The present analysis is useful in quantifying the effect of above said parameters that helps in safe and efficient design of the structural elements made of laminated FRP composites. |
