Abstract: This project is about the simulation on usage of water to an explosive compaction. The explosive compaction is a method to compress the metal powder into desired shape. Emulex is used as an explosive in this project. The main part in explosive compaction are dome, male compacter, female compacter, base and piston. Furthermore, there are two methods that involve in this research which are analytical analysis and numerical analysis. An Analytical analysis, the formulae that are involved are Johnson Cook and Mie Gruneisen to find the stress developed in the dome and the pressure that developed in the dome after explosion. For numerical analysis, there are two software involved, which are Ansys AUTODYN software and Finite Element Analysis. The simulation result for a dome that filled with water is compared with the dome that does not filled with water. Water is used as blast mitigation in this project, and it shows that the pressure at the water section is lower than dome section.
