Reliability and maintainability analysis is used to ensure adequate performance of the system based consistently with minimal maintenance costs. Both combinations determine on how the proportion of time for use or matter is operating in a safe state. The aim of this project is to identify maintainability and reliability characteristics on critical machines in tyre production line with respect to repair frequency and duration. In this thesis, the statistical analysis of the tyre production line of the failure and repair data at machine and line levels have been performed. The tyre production line consists of several workstations and machine in series supplied with the common transfer mechanism and control system that have different failures mode. Descriptive statistics of repair data that cover 12 month period were carried out and the best fitness index parameters were computed by using software package MINITAB. Furthermore, the reliability for the critical machine was calculated as well to predict the reliability for upgrading the maintenance strategies of the production line. The result of the study shows that the working conditions have a significant effect on the reliability and maintainability performance of machines. This study shows that reliability and maintainability analysis is very useful for deciding maintenance intervals to perform planning and organizing the best maintenance policies.en_US
