Abstract: The book focuses on simulation of distributed fiber optic sensors based on Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering in optical fibers are studied through in-house developed coding using MATLAB. The backscatter signals are analyzed in the presence of Coherent Rayleigh Noise (CRN), which is the dominant noise source. The analysis includes the characteristics of backscatter signals when affected by temperature and strain.
