Abstract: Distance relay is one of three methods to protect the transmission lines from fault. It consists of two functions which are phase distance functions and ground distance functions. The other two ways to protect the transmission lines is by using overcurrent relay dan pilot relaying. The main problems are to determine the setting of the distance functions. So the apparent impedance seen by distance relay for various system and fault is one of the way to solve the problem. In this project , there are three aspects of application on distance relay to three terminal lines will be studied. The three aspects is phase distance functions, ground distance functions and blocking functions. In this study ,the MATLAB/SIMULINK is used. SIMULINK’s Power System Blockset (PSB) is used for detailed modelling of a power system network and fault simulation. From the modeling ,there are some graph that will be analyzed which are the graph for current phasor , voltage phasor , zone 1 fault and zone 2 fault.
