Organized by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), 3rd - 4th December 2008 at Danau Golf Club, Bangi, Selangor.en_US
The term fluidity is always used in the cast-metals industry. Fluidity is the reciprocal of viscosity. The foundryman job is to search the amount of quantity that will permit him to evaluate the relative ability of a given liquid alloy at a certain temperature to fill a mold. The foundry definition must take into consideration in study the effect of decreasing temperature that tends to produce crystallization in the metal stream and thus impede its flow. So the viscosity of any liquid metal should be as low enough to homogenously occupy the mould. Casting at any temperature above the liquidus temperature is possible to allow successful molten metal filling of the mold. The relative measurement of fluidity has been developed by empirical methods. The two methods are currently used are the sand-cast fluidity and the suction-tube method.en_US
