Abstract: | The voltage sag phenomenon is the most severe power quality problem that exists today. Electrical engineers have placed the issue of power quality studies on high priority due to the economic loss resulting from voltage sag. Voltage sags can generally be characterized by sag magnitude, duration, and frequency. The magnitude can be determined by using the fault calculation and simulation. Although voltage sags are less severe than interruptions, they are more frequent in addition, their consequences for sensitive equipment, such computers, adjustable speed drives or control equipment can be as important as those by an interruption. This project will study about the three type of fault that can caused the voltage sag, that is fault like balanced or symmetrical three phase faults, single line to ground fault, line to line faults and double line to ground fault. Using a simulation tool, Power System Computer Aided Design (PSCAD), it is fast and reliable method to analyze the severity of voltage sag seen at the power system. |
