Abstract: Internet is a global network that provides information and communication for people anytime, anywhere. The important of Internet makes more and more user around the world and thus, it is causing the deficiency of IPv4 address space. For sure, nowadays, the complexity of the hardware setup or administrative tasks of infrastructure network consume longer setup time and more manpower which are another concern of people. By knowing these issues, a research to evaluate the performance of TCP variants in mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is conducted. The measurements taken in this research are throughput, packet delivery ratio (PDR), packet loss ratio and average packet delay. The targeted TCP variants to investigate are TCP Reno, TCP Tahoe and TCP Vegas. A simulation topology is designed and developed for three of the TCP variants by modifying the Tool Command Language (TCL) scripts. Then, simulation is done in Network Simulator version 2 (NS2). The simulation result shows that TCP Vegas performs better as compared to TCP Reno and TCP Tahoe in all of the performance metrics. Having to know this, TCP Vegas is proposed to be implemented so that it can provide better quality of service for the IPv6 MANET users.
