Abstract: IP routing is used to determine the best path to send packet from source to destination and specific how router to communicate between each other to complete the task. IP routing can be divided into static route and dynamic route as well as link state, distance vector and hop count. IS-IS and OSPF is under link state protocol. In this thesis we are focus on Open Shortest Path First (OSPF). OSPF is a link-state routing protocol so it is using cost metric to find the shortest path to send packet from one end to another end. The shortest path from source to destination can check through the command prompt (cmd) by using tracert command. OSPF is an autonomous system because it can divide into multiple area and share the routing information. Besides that, OSPF is support classless protocol, multipath and multicast. The detail of OSPF will explain later in this thesis. In this thesis we will carry out experiment performance evaluation of OSPF, this experiment is based on real application over cisco 2800 series routers and cisco switches. In addition, wireshark software is used to analysis the result from core network and traffic generator based on TamoSoft are used to measure traffic models.
