dc.description.abstractComputer network has experience an explosive growth over the past few years, that growth causes congestion collapse. Hence, there are various of Active Queue Management (AQM) available over the Internet network to reduce that congestion such as Random Early Detection (RED). However, there is not enough information about this algorithm. Moreover, the designs of network topology for this topology are not well developed. Having known this issue, this research aims to investigate the performance of RED by comparing the simulation result with other simple queue management such as DropTail. A topology of both algorithms are designed and developed. The simulation results shows that RED performs better as compared to DropTail in terms of average delay, throughput ratio and packet loss. Having known that RED performs better as compared to DropTail, thus, it is proposed that RED is implemented over the Internet network. Then, this can provide better service quality to the wired Internet users in the future.en_US
