Abstract: Ultra wideband receiver front end is designed in this thesis. To determine the most appropriate design for ultra wideband (UWB) receiver front-end, a study was conducted on the designs of wideband antennas, wideband filter and power amplifier. This work is to integrate wideband antenna, filter and amplifier that were designed separately into complete UWB receiver front-end. The preferred designs for the integration are microstrip single patch for antenna, multiple-mode resonator (MMR) for filter and power amplifier for amplifier. Setup and simulation of the antenna and filter is performed using Agilent ADS Momentum while the amplifier module are performed using Agilent ADS Schematic. The microstrip single patch antenna archives partial wideband capability with return loss below -10 dB between 6.156 GHz and 10.25 GHz. The MMR bandpass filter simulation realizes almost maximally flat insertion loss response at -2 dB for 3.5 GHz until 8.2 GHz and the return loss is below -15 dB throughout the passband. The power amplifier module demonstrates the gain at 3.661 dB for 5.7 GHz.
