This paper presents an extensive parametric study on the response of 3 storey and 8 storey set back reinforced concrete (RC) planar frames which are subjected to 10 selected ground motions which recorded by PEER (Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research). Where vertical and horizontal motion, in the range of 0 to 30km. Among 10 ground motion, 5 of the ground motions are in V/H < 1 and the others 5 ground motions are in V/H >1. There are totally 4 models are examined. Which of these are model 1 : 3 storey set back building (seismic design), model 2 : 3 storey set back building (gravity design), model 3 : 8 storey set back building (seismic design) and model 4 : 8 storey set back building (gravity design). Most of the interstorey drift ratio of horizontal ground motion is same with the vertical + horizontal ground motion. Next it found that the vertical ground motion has significant effect on axial load at column of each of the building compare to horizontal ground motion.en_US
