Abstract: | This paper presents an extensive parametric study on the inelastic response of 18 storey reinforced concrete (RC) planar frames which are subjected to 10 single and sequential ground motions. Three families of regular frame, irregular frame with setback and with transfer beam are examined. The first family has been designed for seismic and vertical loads according to European codes while the second one only for vertical loads. The whole range of frames is subjected to 10 real seismic sequences which are recorded by COSMOS, vertical and horizontal motion, in range 0 to 30 km and V/H is greater than 1. It is found that the vertical ground motion has significant effect to x and z axis directions. Furthermore, it is concluded that the Irregular frame with setback EC2 has failed in the corresponding demands of single ground motion. |
