Abstract: Single phase transformer can be sources of disturbing and annoying acoustic noise. The transformer core plays a significant role in the noise generation process. The influence of the clamping stress effects on noise levels have been investigated by means of a single phase transformer model. It has been found that the noise level decreases with increasing of clamping stress and those imperfections in the stress to core assembly have a significant influence on the noise level also. The equivalent continuous sound pressure level (LAeq) was used as a measure of the A-weighted sound level. The anechoic chamber is chosen to attenuate all unwanted sound that will influence the analysis. The result shows that when high torque clamping stress applied to the core, the equivalent continuous noise level (Leq) decrease.
