Abstract: Current Transformers (CT’s) are instrument transformers that are used to supply a reduced value of current to meters, protective relays, and other instruments. CT’s provide isolation from the high voltage primary, permit grounding of the secondary for safety, and step-down the magnitude of the measured current to a value that can be safely handled by the instruments. The CT saturation occurs when the magnetic flux exceeds the linear region on the CT magnetizing characteristic. Proper selection of a CT is required for a good protection scheme operation. Among many others factors which can affect the current measurement accuracy. In this project, present about an investigation effect of secondary burden of CT. The first step, review the concept of CT and describe the effect of burden. Second step, investigate their effect and simulation causes were performed by the PSCAD EMTDC.
