Abstract: The DE2-70 board and LTM daughter board were the first time using, so a lot of information and function of board are needed to discover. To familiar with the altera devices, user manual of altera devices is needed as a guide for easily utilize at the future in this project. Learn to design phone directory programme code using Quartus II software to achieve the requirement of the function for the project and also meet the timing of the DE2-70 and LTM board. Nowadays phone directory is used by business, professional men and other persons carry it in their pocket as a small memo book in which they record person’s names and phone number which can be referred from time to time. It has been widely marketed due to convenient functions thereof, for instance, everywhere and every time a phone conversation is available. However, it is practically difficult for everyone to correctly remember a large number of phone numbers of friends, business partners, and community member etc. In this project we have to develop verilog programme code to store person’s name and phone number and then display it using 16x2 LCD which provided in altera devices. The LTM touch screen use as keyboard for selecting the function of the portable phone and key in the numbers and verbal words. Verilog programme code use to interface the connection of the device and write the verilog coding to run the phone directory function. To store the person name and phone number we have to design register as a memory to store the memo. This portable phone can search back the memo after they stored.
